What inspired you to start blogging?
A few months ago, some friends planted a seed inside my head to start a website. People always ask me to take them shopping and I have always had a knack for predicting trends. I thought it would be fun since I have worked in almost every creative aspect of the fashion industry from designing clothing to helping companies recreate their brand image, predominately in the high-end markets. The site is for people who like an elegant style with a bit of edge and want to discover new things.
Who do you think is the most influential personality in the fashion world, and why?
I can’t say one person because there are so many. It would definitely be the people who are not afraid of expressing themselves. Just a few examples: Lady Gaga, Daphne Guinness, Anna Della Russo, and Victoria Bekham.
What is the one essential item in your wardrobe you couldn’t live without?
My black Michael Kors biker vest, it adds to any outfit. I have worn it with a t-shirt and sweatpants and even a black evening gown.
If you could give one piece of style advice, what would it be?
Don’t ever settle for clothing because it’s inexpensive or convenient. That is how you will eventually regret your closet. Buy only what you absolutely love, even if it means having to save up for something or looking around a bit longer.
Who is your fashion icon?
Carine Roitfeld! Parisian women have the best style; effortless sensuality, edge, confidence, and elegance. She is the perfect example of just that.
How have you developed your style?
My style can change daily depending on my mood, and changes on a larger scale every season, inspired by what is on the runway. There are some subconscious elements to my style that stays the same. I’ll go shopping with my friends and they’ll say “That’s so you!” so I guess I have a distinct aesthetic.
What is your favorite outfit that you’ve worn, and why?
My favorite outfit I have ever worn was an off-white Giambattista Valli dress that had a chiffon ruffle running from the shoulders down the side seams, and I wore that with a silk pastel pink Christian Louboutin pump. From the colors to the style of the dress, I never felt so feminine in my life.
What beauty products can’t you live without?
Chanel mascara, Laura Mercier face cream, Makeup Forever HD base, and of course my Burt’s Bees chap stick.
What do you wear on vacation/holiday? Favorite pair of shoes/boots?
When going somewhere cold I wear a lot of leather, fur, and cashmere. For the beach, I love beautiful kaftans with a natural bohemian look. I try to dress the part wherever I go, one of my favorite aspects of traveling.
If I had to choose a favorite pair of shoes it would definitely be my Sergio Rossi keyhole pumps, I can wear those babies all day and all night. My favorite boots would have to be my over-the-knee lace-up combat boots from Rock and Republic.
Do you prefer designer, or Vintage ? Where do you shop?
I am a big supporter of emerging designers; I love the rawness of their work that many large designers can loose over time. I also love vintage clothing, and once in a while enjoy splurging on some really nice pieces. I shop everywhere from Daffy’s, to Allan and Suzi’s Vintage Shop, to Bergdorf Goodman. I don’t believe in limiting myself to anything. I’ll walk into any store.
Being in the blogging industry, Where do you see fashion and technology heading?
I see technology moving towards more personalized outlets that will give consumers the feeling of less clutter, it’s already slowly moving in that direction. I just hope magazines and newspapers don’t stop printing, there is nothing I love more than holding a issue of Vogue or WWD in my hands.
Where do you see your blog headed in a few years?
I can’t really determine where the blog would be in a few years, but I can say it’s been moving along a lot faster than I expected. I’m just taking it day by day and enjoying every minute of it.
What advice do you have for up and coming fashion blogs like us?
