How To Get Jennifer Lopez’s Bronde and Curly Hair
When Blake Lively debuted bronde hair last week, the world collectively lost it mind. And now, Jennifer Lopez is next to make the case for bronde locks. She debuted the look on the set of her new TV show, Shades of Blue.
We spoke with the man responsible for J.Lo’s new sultry color, Adrian Wallace from the Rita Hazan salon.
What was the inspiration behind this color? “For Shades of Blue, the look we were going for was darker with some highlights, instead of light and blonde. After it was done she was happy and said, ‘It’s dark and sexy too.'”
So how can non-celebs get her “dark and sexy” hair? “I did a single process color to make her roots darker, but still rich and not flat. I then added highlights just as dark with a toner—which act as low lights. Then I got rid of her blonde highlights and added softer and richer bright highlights in golden honey. Jennifer’s warm skin tone looks great with the deeper, darker root color, and the highlights make the color softer and her skin tone pop.”
How would you tweak it for lighter skin tones? “It’s important to have dimension and contrast and to use colors that mix well with each other. For paler skin tones, I would make the base color lighter and the highlights more neutral.”
How do you maintain a good bronde? “To maintain freshness and prevent fading, I recommend using the Rita Hazan Ultimate Shine Gloss. I would also use her Weekly Remedy at least once a week to help keep the hair healthy.”
